I don't have any experience with OHARP but all of the SWOS in my husband's class applied for OHARP. I think all of them went directly to SWOS, although maybe a few went to their ship. They did it for a "just in case" instance, so that could be what is going on now.

My DH didn't do OHARP, but I've heard conflicting information regarding BAH and OHARP. The rationale behind not receiving BAH while doing OHARP is that because you're in your "hometown area," you're expected to live at home. I've also heard that officers who did ROTC or college-op programs continued to receive the same BAH for their home of record throughout OHARP.

What I would have him look into is getting the BAH for wherever his orders are going to be for. My thinking is that because OHARP is TAD, he might be able to get BAH for wherever he is PCSing to. I would at least have him pursue it further. If not that, see if he can get it for his home of record.

My LO is in OCS right now and apparently they are making all the SWO candidates apply for OHARP. He told me that if he gets assigned to that, he'll come back home for 14 to 90 days and will not get BAH for that period. He said that if we were married, then he would, but because he's "single" he doesn't. Does anyone have any experience with OHARP?
