I have another question, lol! I'm really worried about this... I know it could be worse but whatever.

We could've gone anywhere for our first post-UABMT assignment and we chose to come to Tinker for stability for our son. Will we be able to go overseas? We're hoping to go to Germany in 2015/2016-ish. our oldest will be 13-14 and will hopefully be better able to handle it.

In other news DH finishes DRG on Tuesday.... soooooooooooo glad it's over lol!

I sent you a message.

We're going to live on base. It's just easier with DS' issues. I'm pretty excited about being up there, I miss actually having things to do LOL.

Oh, I do have a question. Since he's going into the 552nd first, what does that mean in terms of spouses groups and such. I haven't been active here but would like to be there. And when will we know his operational squadron? Thanks!

Well the weather is nice here for now at least. Are you planning on base housing or off base? If you would like any info let me know I've been here for what feels like forever :-).

Ok, coming out to say that DH graduated from UABMT last Wednesday and is now at SERE. We're moving to Oklahoma next month.

Dh passed his retake and I'm done posting here. If anyone would like to get in contact with me PM and it'll send me an email.

So, DH failed his test yesterday. He knows what he did poorly on and is studying this weekend... hopefully he passes on Monday and we don't have to worry about getting thrown out. :?.

Block 4 done; onto Block 5 and all of the classified stuff. Guess I'll be spending a lot more time alone with DH in the vault.......

I wrote this down in the ABM class. I know I was curious about the differences between the old/new syllabus.

5 blocks
8 tests
8 HP
68 total

9 blocks
12 tests
4 HP
9 tours {FMT, 43FS, RAPCON, WX, JAX, JSTARS, CRC, FLT Physio, Airfield, AOC JICO, ACMI}
6 av rides
81 total

Block 9 is 30 days long with a TDY to Klamath Falls, OR.

Close controls now.... it's been pretty stressful for DH. He's doing well though. Block 4 out of 9.

We're set on going to Tinker, we should be there in late November/early December. He doesn't have his callsign night until August, but it's like 99% a sure

ABM 101 was kinda interesting. I learned some new stuff... but also heard a lot of stuff I already knew. They did take us through a controlling thing though; can't remember what it's called lol. Basically, we saw what it is that they do in the sim room.

Dh is in block 3 now... brevity words and planning stuff. the ABM 101 class thing is next week, looking forward to that.

Oh and anyone know how long it takes to go to SERE and ASBC after graduation? Or at least a rough estimate.

DH is on his second flying mission today. I hate that I feel so anxious while he's flying :(. Hopefully I'll get used to it soon.

Still hoping that someone else will join me in here :D.

UABMT has finally started, lol.

DH's graduation date is 5 October. What's the time frame that we'd be PCS'ing? I know he'll still need to to do ASBC and SERE... I'm just not just where it fits in, lol.

Also, if DH went JSTARS, how long would we be at Robins? We're wanting to be there for at least 5 years but also have opportunities to go somewhere else {like with CRCs and such}. GA is looking like it'd be a better fit for our family vs. Tinker. We do really want to go overseas at some point, but only after our oldest is a bit older and we have his issues under control. The schools in our price range are far better in GA than OK.

Almost everyone else in his class wants

Oh and since it's the new syllabus... DH started on Wednesday, has his first test on Thursday and, if he passes, starts wearing his flight suit on Friday.

Post by jenniferj5 » Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:09 pm

a bit of info about the new syllabus. there are 8 flying missions that are done throughout uabmt. plus they get flight pay as soon as class starts. they "get" to start wearing the flight suit after the first block test {assuming they pass, lol}.

dh passed his pt test on wednesday so he's all set to start class on the 19th.

In other news, DH was told today that he's going to learn to fly the MU-2. So I guess there's some flight training in the new syllabus.

Nope Robins is the only permanent base that has the JSTARS. That doesn't mean you can't PCS to another assignment it just might not be a flying assignment. I will just say that Tinker is really undermanned and after looking at previous assignment drops usually only about 2 students in each class end up at Robins. The last one I saw everyone went to Tinker but you still have a little while so maybe things will have changed by then. But statistically the trend has been most of the class will end up at Tinker. If they still do assignments the same way as when my husband went through the best chance you have of getting the assignment that was at the top of your dreamsheet is to be at the top of the class not sure if this is still the way they operate.
